The Importance of Documentation

Why do you take pictures?

When I was younger, I wasn't really into taking pictures because I felt like I never turn out looking good or even okay at times. But as of late, at least in these few years, I am open to it. Not because I look any better, but because I want memories, I want remembrance, I want to capture emotions that I know I may never get to relive or experience them again. As far as I know, I don't think that people will spend time looking at me in pictures, the first person they will look for is themselves.

More than just pictures alone, I am beginning to see how important of keeping records of the things that has happened. Seeing through the eyes of a historian and writer, the value of such documentation of everything we go through can be rich. Taking pictures, keeping safe art works, writing down recipes, keeping journals,  video recording events, keeping letters, even to the simple doodles that you drew when you were bored in class could all be documented for a reason in the future. Sometimes big breaks and special memories come from these little moments.

I write a lot at least I used to and I have lost most of them and I regret keeping it safe as I would hope so this very moment. I have art works that I now don't now where are they and even as not all of them are good, but it reminded me of my progress as a child and how I saw the world and how I think then. Today I spent less time with art, however I am still producing... ideas, concepts, values, lessons, revelations, designs, and I wondered to myself to how am I suppose to remember all these when the time comes for me to bring them out and show it to the world... I am always eager to write all these ideas down, putting them on paper, computer... anywhere and how that I can keep them to be retrace for the future.

Keep safe your memories, it may not bring you wealth, but it promises victories of today's survival and endurance.
