Battle of the Believer

It is more than just those who oppose God that we are faced everyday, for they are the reason that we fight for our existence within the community with the message that we have. However, we are also faced with those that are within the faith but more than just another unbeliever but those that speak forth of a gospel that is upright skewed.

In the times of the New Testament, believers struggled. But unlike the struggles that we have today where believers struggled about comfort, the convenience of life and the preference of church services, the believers in the New Testament struggled against heresy.

Today, church politics revolves around the budget of the church, the preference of aesthetics within the church, about meeting trends, about personal space and rights. Where as after the time of Jesus, believers were more concern that the gospel was not tainted in its core message and everything else that comes with it. False teaching was something they fought with vigor. All that found themselves believing in the gospel of Jesus Christ were found to be in commitment of standing guard against false teaching, devoted themselves into scripture and understanding it through and through.

Everyone experiences God differently but what is disturbing is when they start to depict the God experience with only what they know and then in turn teach other what being a believer is suppose to be like. The older I become, I begin to be more and more aware of the vastness of God in relation to His people and how He communicates.

I become a little more cautious with what I used to criticize and judge. However, I am also becoming more strict with what I know to be true in the sense of certain nonnegotiable areas. There are things in the bible that are clearly stated and there are things that God remains silent over. We can only come to place to comprehend the different practices and  and what is permissible through the study of scripture. But this is not something many are accustomed to do in the church. They have taken lightly much of what scripture says and only find themselves taking up stands only by what others are saying, or what make sense to themselves only.

So when others who are not careful what what they say about theology, those who know little, gets lured into a knowledge that is not govern by the Spirit but follows blindly of what they can only understand. These are occasion where cults and misleading theology births.

Much of these circumstances of false teachings have brought me to a deeper appreciation of history. There are more and more people today who come up with age old questions and confusion about scripture that were already tackled in the past but because they are not well-read in regards to scripture they become so much more inclined to fall away from faith and develop a whole new understanding of theology that is far from the truth.

Church leaders and pastors ought to be condoling the deep study of scripture and to build a foundation of faith on proper theology. There are less and less emphasis on the deep study of scripture that believers are becoming more and more (lack of a better word) 'stupid', when it comes to know what is it that they believe.
