Night Walks

I have been having this new habit lately to walk out late at night, aimlessly. I would walk for at least 2 miles around my neighborhood, with my earphones and my hood on and start walking.

As I stroll through the side walks of the quiet nights, I find my life to have a different side. I watch cars pass me by, meeting drunkards on the streets, people walking their dogs, single moms rushing back from probably their second or third job. But what lies ahead of me is a direction that I have not planned and I will go as far as my legs would take me.

God speaks differently somehow. Even from opening His word in the morning, the reflection of it in the night gives me perspectives that I cannot see in the bright of day. My day unwinds, my restless heart clams down and I find myself drawing aligned to who am I and what I have been.

Sometimes it helps me look forward to the next day and what it may bring, sometimes it reminds me to appreciate  little moments. But more than anything is how God speaks. Whether in finding assurance, disciplining, or even finding peace and strength, I find fascination in the things revealed to me.
