Yesterday was a pretty interesting day...
Seeing that I had no ride up state, I had to take public transportation up. My journey started at about 10:30 in the morning from my door. Took the 7 train to Port Authority and had an interesting bus hunt. New Yorkers are surely unfriendly in many ways, took me almost 30 minutes to confirm the gate that I am suppose to be at.
At the same time, m watch died and the batteries on the phone was low as I forgotten to charge it. I felt so ill-equip in many ways. I hate it when I am in such a situation and it is my first time doing something. Upon getting on to the bus I asked the bus driver where I should be stopping and he could not help me with in and all I had to depend on was the GPS on my phone. I never felt this helpless that I had to depend on a GPS for the first time. I was told that it would take about 20 to 25 minutes ride... which I thought was pretty reasonably short but of course the trip was longer than that. I was in the bus for over 1 hour as I tracked myself through the map.
Somehow, the trip in the bus was rather surprisingly pleasant. It was't crowded in the bus and the view was nice as the bus traveled along the Hudson river and passing through really nice towns. The bus arrived to the town close to school and I had to carefully watch for streets before I requested a stop and walk about half a mile to school... which is not really a distance for me as I am used to walking so much but this was a ridiculous steep hill that got my muscles straining to carry myself up after 10 minutes going up.
I arrived in class over 3 hours after leaving home and needless to say that I was late. But I got in anyway with a table right at the corner next to the door as if that was meant for me. The class was about to break into small group discussion and I got into a group near me and had a nice discussion with 2 other guys. At the end of the class, I was staying back in class to talk to one of the guys in my group and had a pretty fulfilling time sharing with him about my past experiences and about my short testimony.
I left class about 6:20 in the evening and walk into the town center where there were lots of restaurants and decided to do dinner there alone. Pretty nice town, looks like a typical close knit American town. I scouted for the location of my bus stop and waited for the bus. Unsure of the location I got confirmation from a guy that came later who is going back to the city with me. The wait for the bus felt really peaceful and even from the bus ride home was nice and quiet.
Got back into the city, headed quickly to the 7 train for the final trip back to Flushing. Slept a little on the way and finally got home a little pass 10.
It was such a tiring day, but I would not mind doing this again... I enjoyed the serenity that came with it, apart from the fear of getting lost on my way here.
