Take Awareness

Tonight's Emotional Healthy Spirituality workshop brought up something that I have been looking into for the past 2 to 3 months now and that is going back to my past and decipher the life that lived and how does that affect how I perceive the world today.

I remembered that there is a class in seminary that requires us to look into our family tree and study my ancestors and their life and how much of it is reflected in my life today. In Genesis it brought up the curse of sin that lingers through several generations within a family and how that would influence the way we perceive and think about things.

The way we see our future has very much been shaped by our past experiences, even in the most subtle ways; from the way we see how our parents behave and how the family dynamics can somewhat dictate what we want for our future.

My fears that I do not understand and handle to the very hopes to what I consider to be secure is formed by how I reflected on my pasts. My anxieties are informed by similar circumstance that I now face and even as I know in my head that it is not the same situation but the heart cannot differentiate the situation and goes into overdrive and dives into defense.

Having to go through counseling lately has brought a whole new appreciation of discovering the little details that most people ignore that are essential to overcoming a lot of issues in life. Facing those issues could very well be the answers to questions that we have, or even questions we are unaware of that needs to be answered.

Ignorance is bliss... but bliss does not save us or the people around us from being less problematic, but rather appearing more foolish. We need to care about certain issues in our lives, even those that we are unaware of. Which reflects David to ask God to search his heart so that he can progress into life eternal.
