There are 2 kinds of people that pursues God. There are those that pursue God to know Him more and there are those that pursue God for sustenance.
I was having a few conversations lately that revolves around the topic of theology and the foundation of it. Much to the many believers in church, their pursuit are only for sustenance and no further. In other words, they crave for God in such that God provides fulfillment for the cravings of their emotions, their mental state, economically, and physically... but they go no further unless being forced to.
The problem that comes from such pursuit is more glory focused as oppose to cross focused. What it simply means is that its only on the superficial pursuit of this earthly life but not on the call of sanctification from the work of the cross. It is only about pursuing the best life possible here but not about the reconciliation of truth about God. And the scary part is that many believers are oblivious about it.
From the prayer requests and the endurance of persecutions, one can tell if we are being superficial or embarking on martyrdom.
When was the last time you craved to know Jesus more? When was the last time you truly surrendered yourself to the daunting will of God? When was the last time you gave yourself into studying Him more so that you may be transformed into the likeness of Jesus more and more?... When was the last time you confessed your sins in repentance, as in turning around and pursue His righteousness?
