Sorry

Being sorry and feeling remorse can be so blurred when we are not exactly sure what we are feeling sorry about.

We first have the "truly sorry, or sorry for getting caught" that we deal with to dug further into sincerity. Then as believers, we go further to being sorry because we displeased God.

I must confess that I often fall into all of them, where I do feel sorry for getting caught, feeling genuinely sorry for the person I have wronged, and feeling sorry for displeasing God. However, I find that I do not do as much for the last one.

I do not know if I have taken God's grace for granted that many at times I don't seem to be sorry for displeasing God, but just being sorry all by itself. This has been a warning to me, more than just the issue of my conscience, but the awareness of sin. And sin directly affects God.

Not until we relate our remorse to sin will be come to proper confession and repentance, because no one cares more about sin than God, yet many of us throw sorry very lightly only on the surface of things.
