We tend to surround ourselves with people that we gel with, or at least people that are similar to us.
We may be aware of the fact that we seek out people that share our values but we are not aware that we are only shrouding ourselves in our narrow mindedness.

I am not saying that we deliberately mingle with people that must be complete the opposite of us. However, we are to be aware about the differences of mentality and personality around us that could be a great asset to our lives. We often find the comfort in familiarity and making the mistake to establish ourselves too much with it but wall away those that seem to divert from our ways because they are the very soundboard to tell us how much we have accomplished and how far we have fallen short.

I see friends who are making major decisions in life based on the counsel of people that are exactly like them. They hear advice that echo their sentiments and perspective and no other, and they march on with a false sense of approval into self-interests.

What do you do in situations like these?
