It is always easier to picture ourselves being the one that goes after God, praying, seeking after Him and to pay attention to the signs of His work.
Life is difficult that it can cause one to question over and over again the purpose of it, which is to no surprise that much of people's reflection goes into the realm of discovering our specific roles while we are still on this earth... the search of purpose.
But knowing that we are bounded creatures, in the sense that we are limited by our own understanding. This goes beyond just to believe in ourselves and discover what the human will can do but what we can do are little compared to the God who created us. Our human mind only comprehends what our brains can only handle and by comparison to what the vastness of the universe holds.
All boiling down to the fact that as we pursue God, we may never fully grasp Him in his fullness because we do not know how to understand Him with the minds that we have. We search in the wrong places, wrong timing and also often, we look for the wrong god so to speak. So we do not really get a reliable picture of the experience that we get from our pursuit. All in all, even our efforts and intentions are left in the dust of vain pursuit.
But what we do not see and could not have known by ourselves... that through scripture is the plain message of the the pursuit... However, not our pursuit per se, but the pursuit of us...
We are not really doing the pursuing, it is God doing the pursuit. God is pursuing you! What scripture displays much of what His people went through to anticipate the coming of the Savior and all that entails it, but there is a faint display, but not unimportant, the love of God that drive Him to work behind the scenes to come to us.
God is not just sitting on His throne watching the world pass by, He is active in getting to each and everyone of us. Though it seems like there are moments when He is just keeping silent, but in His sovereignty plans are taking place, and all we need to recognize is to look at the right direction and open our hearts.
