Suffer Well
I come to realized that a lot of people are being so cautious to the point that they live in a shell that covers up themselves so much... living a "pseudo" life.
We have heard of countless marriages that come to the point of regretful discovery after a few years, as they would go through the eye-opening phase of discovering each others deeper flaws. This is because there is a sense of superficiality that masks the relationship in the beginning that they only see the surface and make a rash decision to dive in.
This quote reminded me that everyone falls, sooner or later... it is part of human nature. But people are hiding so much that they build walls around themselves that hide their true self and making the mistake of unintentional deception.
A pastor wrote once about one important value among many about seeking a partner for life, and that is to see how the person suffers... which closely reiterate the quote about recovering from a fall to get a better idea of the person. A life with God is one that should be expecting hardships and struggles, something that I often remind people about. Life sometimes takes unexpected turns that makes plenty inconveniences, how your life partner deals with the hardship and struggles is something essential to see how well the relationship will work out.
Thus, putting into words that we want to look for someone that suffers well, just as we are to learn to suffer well ourselves. We find greater comfort in seeing someone coming out of hardship than one that we have no idea how they will react in hard times.
