Something In The Way

When I cannot see clearly at God, the only separation must be inside of us...

I have been reading about prayer that reminded me that God listens to the prayer of a righteous man. So I begin to think about those times when I pray a lot but nothing seems to work and God seems like a distance far from me. I would wonder why I am going through some of those dry spells and it would hit me that because I am not right with God in the first place.

So as obvious as knowing that I am not always right with God so I began to get myself right with Him. I would make more efforts to pray and read scripture more and more and pray for the strength to endure through those seasons. But I was missing out on something, and it forced me to ask a little deeper of the question... what made be unrighteous with God in the first place?

Unrighteousness that separates man from God is only one thing... SIN

Before I can think about what are the things that I need to do and work hard at, I needed to remind myself that I have sinned. Sin needs to be confessed. Sins known and unknown. Psalms 139 mention that we should ask God to find in us things that could be offensive to Him and bring that into repentance. Because we do not always come to understand or take urgency of certain things in our lives that is seriously weighing down on us in a sinful way. Things that may not seem serious to us may very well be the one thing that is causing our relationship with God to be hindered and that very thing may very well be the quintessential to how we see God. This is always sin, and we need to find ourselves asking God to bring light to the matter to the point where we want to crucify those sins in us so that we can be free to go back to God and experience Him again.

Dry seasons in our lives can simply be caused by unrepented sins. Sin is almost always the thing that gets in the way to the intimiacy that we experience from God.
